100 Things about me

At some point everyone in the blogosphere seems to have written a list of 100 things about themselves, it's one of those memes that never seems to die - that and 9 out of 10 bloggers are so used to talking about themselves that a list like this seems the most natural thing to write.
Anyhow, this one's mine, I wrote it a while back but figured I may as well update it for this site. Enjoy..

  1. I jumped out of my bedroom window and ran away from home after being sent to my room while I was still in junior school.
  2. I stayed at my best friends house all afternoon before trying to sneak back into the house.
  3. I got caught by my next door neighbour who alerted the rest of the neighbourhood I'd been found, I got the hiding of my life and was sent straight to bed - it took 2 days before mum realised I'd seriously hurt myself
  4. I still have a hairline fracture across my right foot to show for it.
  5. I am an eldest child - I have 3 younger brothers and no sisters
  6. I like to meet new people
  7. I got married at 26 to a scout leader
  8. I got divorced at 29 from a bar manager
  9. It was completely amicable.
  10. I used to have one to one lessons in wing chun and thoroughly enjoyed it
  11. I also used to do kendo, kempo ju jitsu and iaido
  12. I also used to go swimming regularly and had a gym membership that saw much use
  13. Everything physical stopped when I became ill but I've developed other interests and still read a great deal
  14. I used to sing for a living in a covers duo called Electric Blue on the pub/ club scene
  15. I lasted 3 months in that job, it sucked so much that for around a year after I quit I didn't like to sing anymore
  16. I once organised a 4 day music event including 27 bands and it went off without a hitch.
  17. I'm an ok lyricist.
  18. I can play the drums a little but I stopped to take up bass guitar, sadly I had to sell the guitar and haven't picked one up since
  19. I once played the part of 'Rosie' in the play 'My mother said I never should' By charlotte Keatley
  20. I enjoyed acting but it never gave me quite the buzz that singing and performing with a band does
  21. I sold my first drum kit to pay for my first motorbike
  22. I got the better deal
  23. I crashed my second motorbike three weeks after buying it
  24. I sometimes miss it but I prefer being a pillion
  25. I love pictures featuring beautiful landscapes and frequently wish I was in one.
  26. I used to believe in tree spirits and I'd aplogise if we'd damaged a tree during play
  27. Sometimes I still think I have some kind of connection to the world around me, I have moments where I feel a little 'fey'
  28. I guess that explains my fondness for fantasy books
  29. Sometimes it feels like there is another person in my head observing my thoughts and actions, this makes me wonder if I should seek help..
  30. I try not to be bitter and endeavor to put all the crap behind me
  31. Every day I try to be a better person
  32. I don't always succeed
  33. I love to look around houses for sale, the thing I want most in the world is a home of my own and to set down some roots
  34. I have chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ ME)
  35. I wish more than anything else to be healthy again
  36. I sometimes worry that the illness is all I have left to talk about
  37. I hate that that makes me a stereotype
  38. I used to be a VERY active and independent person, I miss that but try not to dwell on it.
  39. I've discoverd a joy in whacking balls as far as I can at a driving range, it leaves me feeling calm and relaxed.
  40. I want to learn as much about web design as possible so I can work at home around this damned illness.
  41. I want to see more of my friends but they all live too far away
  42. I've passed my theory test but I need to learn to drive
  43. I want a car so I can claw back a little of my lost independance
  44. My favorite type of film falls under the heading 'chick flick'
  45. I hate horror, can't watch it, won't read it. Especially if it has anything to do with zombies in it.
  46. I've always been a big reader and once worked for my dad as a proof reader (he's a technical author)
  47. I spend far too much money on books and dvds
  48. But not as much as I do on beading materials
  49. I gain a great deal of pleasure from making jewelery for my friends
  50. I claim I'm open minded but certain lifestyles make me purse my lips like a dried up old spinster aunt
  51. I have very strong opinions on very few subjects, I'm better known as miss instant opinion generally
  52. I'll always lose an arguement. I find it too easy to empathise with the other persons point of view - even when I feel i'm in the right.
  53. I've been between 9-9 1/2 stone for the last 10 years
  54. I have very little interest in fashion because i'm fussy about the material that touches my skin and it's difficult to find clothes that fit me.
  55. I wish I had more ambition and drive
  56. I have many humiliating memories but only one embarrassing secret
  57. I'll never tell a soul that one thing, everything else is fair game.
  58. I used to work on a tarot line - it was a weird job
  59. I like tattoos but I'd never get one
  60. my teeth are my worst feature
  61. I don't like being alone, I need company even if it's only on messenger.
  62. I used to love being alone and would often go for long walks to avoid people
  63. I don't know why or when I changed
  64. I like to think of myself as loyal and faithful, i'll do anything to help a friend even if it puts me out.
  65. I would like to start selling my jewelery but am unsure how to go about it or even if it's of sellable quality.
  66. I wish I had more opportunities to wear dressy clothes
  67. I love furniture shopping
  68. I've travelled to Italy, Portugal, Canada and Cyprus
  69. I'm not sure if I prefer italy or portugal but I know I really disliked cyprus
  70. I have a strange sense of humour - apparently.
  71. I have a strict moral code the basis of which is 'treat others as you would like to be treated'
  72. I will answer any question asked of me but I hate people going through my stuff
  73. I sometimes worry that I will never be well again
  74. I worry about a lot of things all the time, even when I know there is no reason too
  75. I've noticed many times that logic and emotion rarely do well together.
  76. I don't handle confrontation very well unless I'm in a working environment and it's with someone I don't know
  77. The thing I like most in other people is the ability to appreciate the absurd even in the most mundane of things.
  78. I was a bouncer for 6 years
  79. It was at a music venue and I met a lot of bands of whom Incubus and St Germain are my favourite
  80. I now begrudge paying for gigs because of that job
  81. It was the only job I ever really enjoyed and I've had many different kinds of work.
  82. I like swords and knives but only to look at, the thought of using them to harm someone sickens me
  83. I sometimes dream of killing people or being killed
  84. Those dreams are always ridiculously violent and I wake up screaming far too often
  85. In my waking life I'm mostly happy
  86. My favourite colour is purple, but I also like dark green
  87. I don't really like pink or yellow - especially pink
  88. I've tried more new foods in the last three years than I'd ever experienced in my whole life before, potato is still my favourite.
  89. I love mashed potato, actually - potato prepared in practically any way is a hit with me, it's my happy food
  90. I learn more from the internet than I ever learned in school but I still want to go back to college to learn more.
  91. I love the song 'building a mystery' by Sarah Mclachlan
  92. My gran is the closest family member to me, I dread the day she dies.
  93. I sometimes worry that I've become a boring person
  94. I have a ridiculously acute sense of smell
  95. I'm easily distracted
  96. I've completed a basic course on the uses of dreamweaver and photoshop
  97. I hope to take that knowledge further but need a structured environment in which to learn properly.
  98. I am a karaoke queen
  99. My best songs are probably 'True colors' by Cyndi Lauper, 'Mustang Sally' by the commitments, 'You oughta know' by Alanis Morissette 'Black velvet' by Alannah myles and 'Chain of fools' by Aretha Franklin
  100. I've grown to hate singing most of those songs but they always get requested
So there you go - if you managed to get through the whole list your patience is to be commended, or would that be your skill at procrastination? It's amazing how much patience you can find for something if you're supposed to be doing something else isn't it?
