I never thought driving a diesel would be so different to a petrol car – or perhaps its the change in make and model that’s the problem – or maybe, just maybe, I’m a crap driver.
Once again I continued to lurch my way around the roads – and I do mean LURCH. Every gear change I hopped a little more, every junction I stalled (ok, every 3 out of 5) and quite frankly I’m pissed off at myself – I nearly caused a collision when that feckin’ cyclist jumped off the path directly in front of me and I’m seriously thinking whats the point?
I can’t afford a car even if I ever do manage to pass the bastard test, at £18 per hour I’m becoming more penniless the longer it takes and …Feck it!
I’m fed up.
The last lesson I can understand being a bit shitty because it was a new car and I’d had a good week and a half away from anything to do with driving, but this time I just seemed to go from awful to “what the hell am I doing?” even basic stuff like checking my mirrors before I signal is forgotten – I just cannot drive!
3 times I was nearly the cause of an accident, 2 through stalling when the guy behind was too close and once because of a feckin’ cyclist who seemed to think jumping on and off the pavement in front of moving traffic was a good idea. My instructor spent most of the lesson with his foot hovering over the clutch pedal (and his hand glued to the passenger door handle) and even then I still managed to stall it.
He seems to think that all I need is some private practice because it’s going to take several lessons before I’m test ready.
FANTASTIC!
Any volunteers? No?
Funny that.
Perhaps I should’ve bought a car first, learned to drive it then had some lessons to enable me to pass my test. Except I couldn’t afford to insure it. You try insuring a learner in M27 for under £600 (3rd party only no less) it aint happening. I could of course drive illegally, but what’s the point in that? 1 crash and I’m banned for life – not to mention having fecked up someone else’s life for a short while.
So instead, £18 an hour lessons (so far paid £360) £21.50 for the theory test and (assuming I ever make it) £48.50 for the practical – I’m being financially raped before I even own a car!
Kill me now.
