I’m thinking there must be something in the air, bloggers are giving away a tonne of stuff for free!

Well, not exactly for ‘free’ but there’s many a ‘blog about this and you could win..‘ type post knocking about at present. The first one I noticed was for a game – a very pretty game called Quartile I chuckled to myself and sent a tweet out about it, it looks like it could be interesting to play and if it truly can help you with mental arithmatic then it’s something I could definitely do with *grin*

The next thing I saw was over at Engadget, where they started a hundred gadget giveaway – only rather than blogging you just have to leave a comment, this one could be going for a while and you’d really need to be subscribed to the feed to keep up.

But both of those pale into insignificance besides this one, oh yes, David Airey (who he you ask? he’s a graphic designer, I found him in the comments of this lifehacker article) has decided that for the price of a blog post he will gift one of the many prizes people have donated for the event.

What’s the event? It’s the blogiversary of his logo design blog that’s what the event is.
I have to say, it’s the biggest birthday bash I’ve seen yet for a one year old blog, just look at some of the stuff he has on offer!

He has literally over $4000 worth of stuff to give away but what I’d like to know is – how will the poor guy find the time to wade through all the posts people will be submitting? Oh wait.. He won’t have to – names will be drawn using a random generator.

The deadline for entries is Wednesday, September 26th 2007, and the winners will be announced here on Monday, October 1st 2007. Read the post thoroughly though, he expects a lot from you *grin* best make sure you have a feed reader too.
As you’d expect for a design blog most of the prizes are based around prettyfying and optimising a blog or website, 90% of which I’d be passing on to somebody else should I be fortunate enough to win, but some.. Well *grin* I know which ones I have my eye on:

courtesy of Darren Rowse of ProBlogger. Is there a book you’ve been meaning to buy on Amazon? How about getting it free? A great donation from a .

Behringer Podcastudio USB Podcasting Kit, kindly donated by . Looking for a new way to express yourself? Ever wanted to be a famous producer? Then is the answer and the BEHRINGER PODCASTUDIO USB bundle has all you need to make high-quality podcasts and home recordings.

2GB USB storage key x 3 courtesy of Jamie Clague at . Three USB sticks will make up three separate prizes, with free worldwide postage. Jamie, , has also kindly donated his valuable time to helping with the prize draw administration.

Watercolour print from Ed Roach Watercolours. Ed has quite a talent, and will graciously ship your favourite print from his watercolour studio.

That’s just a small sampling of course but it’d be just my luck to win something I have no real need of like:

from John Boardley of . John has kindly donated his time and will do everything you need to get your new custom blog hosted on one of Media Temple’s dedicated servers.

or

with Ben Yoskovitz of Instigator Blog. Ben has offered his expertise to review 3–5 of your articles, providing tips and giving suggestions on writing, plus a quick and how you can benefit from it.

Mind you, I’m not sure if I’m reading it aright but I think those last 2 are part of a package, if you win the bronze, silver or gold prizes you get everything listed under those heading I may be wrong but even if I’m not it’s of no matter – random generators tend not to like me – if they did I’d have won the lottery by now
Still, whether I win anything or not, it’s worth going and checking out the blogs of all the people who donated prizes because there is a wealth of information stored on the net and these are the kind of people who contribute the golden nuggets.

I’ve been asked to blog about stuff in order to get free stuff several times. I actually did it twice and got 2 video games. On for the X-Box and the other for the X-Box 360. I don’t own either consoles. The reason I blogged about the games was because they were about ZOMBIES !!!!
